Chairman Shuster Response to President’s Comments on Infrastructure in State of the Union

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure on Jan. 21, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) released the following statement in response to the President’s State of the Union address:

“The president’s continued interest in wanting to work together to solve America’s infrastructure issues is a positive step. Whether it be the Water Resources Reform and Development Act or our bipartisan Public-Private Partnership Panel, the Committee has shown that it can solve our nation’s problems in a fiscally responsible manner.

"While I’m willing to work with President Obama on finding a way to fix our nation’s infrastructure, having to choose between infrastructure or the job-creating Keystone pipeline is a shell game that costs the American people further energy independence and job creation. Both are opportunities we should pursue and can achieve."
