Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today in support of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announcement on new fuel efficiency standards for car model years 2024-2026:

“This is an enormous win for consumers, the environment, and U.S. energy independence. The Biden Administration’s new fuel efficiency standards for model years 2024-2026 will help ensure that our cars are more efficient, saving consumers’ hard-earned money and reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions.

“I’m pleased to see President Biden following through on this important commitment to lead on fuel efficiency standards. I look forward to continuing to work together to help save consumers money at the pump, reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, and building a cleaner, more sustainable future for generations to come."
