Committee to Vote on Nominee; Confirm New Member Today

WASHINGTON -- Senate Finance Committee Chairman William V. Roth, Jr. (R-DE) announced the Committee will meet today after the first vote, approximately 5:30 p.m., in the President's Room off of the Senate floor. The Committee will meet to favorably report the nomination of William Halter as Deputy Commissioner of the Social Security Administration and to confirm the appointment of Senator Paul D. Coverdell (R-GA) to join the Senate Finance Committee, and to be Chairman of the Subcommittee on Health Care.

In addition, Senator Coverdell will be a member of the Subcommittee on International Trade, the Subcommittee on Long-Term Growth and Debt Reduction, and the Subcommittee on Social Security and Family Policy.
