Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Max Baucus (D-Mont.), Ranking Member on the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, released the following brief statement today in response to IRS Commissioner Mark W. Everson’s announcement of a review of the Questionable Refund Program (QRP).

“I am encouraged by Commissioner Everson’s announcement. He’s right to acknowledge that the freezing of legitimate refunds must be addressed. I hope today’s announcement is followed by concrete action and timely steps to ensure that taxpayer rights are protected. We need to diligently review and repair this program until all taxpayers are treated fairly."
