Brady to MSNBC’s Ruhle: “Too many governors are holding those dollars"

ICYMI: The top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) joined Stephanie Ruhle on MSNBC to discuss oversight on coronavirus relief, and in particular, the problem of municipalities not receiving federal COVID-19 relief because governors are holding on to the funding.
The two discussed oversight of the CARES package:
Brady: “I think this will be the most scrutinized piece of legislation in American history. I’m pretty confident we’ll have strong oversight."
The Paycheck Protection Program:
Brady: “For every 27,000 small business loan, there were one that were approved for publicly held companies. … There is no question: this overwhelming has been a small-business loan program."
The Speaker’s “Careless" Act:
Brady: “We need to go smart. … Our top economic priority has to be those 36 million Americans who have lost their jobs temporarily. We have to make sure we don’t lose them permanently. … That bill failed on all those accounts."
And on helping state and local governments:
Brady: “We’ve already provided $760 billion to state and local communities … that’s more than we’ve given small businesses. Our problem is that too many governors are holding those dollars and not passing them down to the smaller communities and counties to help them cover their expenses. … We ought to have that discussion to fix those problems before we add more money to it."
