Washington, D.C. - House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul and Chairman Eliot Engel today released the following statement calling for the conviction of Dr. Walid Fitaihi to be overturned and the current travel ban on the Fitaihi family to be lifted.
“We are very disturbed by the latest news out of Saudi Arabia about the conviction of Dr. Walid Fitaihi, an American citizen, on specious charges. We have long called for Dr. Fitaihi and his family to be permitted to leave Saudi Arabia and ask Secretary Pompeo to engage with the Saudi government to ensure this conviction is overturned and Dr. Fitaihi and his family are allowed to return safely to the United States.".
