Johnson Statement on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Health Care Hearing

The following press release was published by the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs on Sept. 19, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, released the following statement after the Finance Committee announced it would hold a hearing on the Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson health care bill.

“I appreciate the Senate Finance Committee’s willingness to hold a hearing on this important health care reform bill. As I said last week, my committee would hold a hearing if a committee of legislative jurisdiction did not. Therefore, I am canceling my committee’s hearing and look forward to the Senate Finance Committee’s proceedings. Oversight of the government’s role in America’s health care system will continue to remain a priority in my committee."

Johnson made remarks (51:55) at a press conference last week regarding holding a hearing for this important health care bill.
