The following press release was published by the House Committee on Natural Resources on Dec. 5, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Yesterday, House Committee on Natural Resources Chairman Rob Bishop (R-UT) was appointed by House Speaker Paul Ryan to serve on the the House-Senate conference committee for the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Chairman Bishop issued the following statement:

“I appreciate the Speaker nominating Rep. Young and myself to help negotiate a final package that pairs a lower tax-burden for Americans with an expansion of revenue-generating energy development."

Background:

The Senate-passed Tax Cuts and Jobs Act includes an amendment by Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) that opens up a small portion of the non-wilderness 1002 area of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) for responsible energy development.

For reconciliation purposes, Chairman Bishop and Chairman Emeritus Don Young (R-AK) have been appointed to serve on the conference committee for matters covered under the Committee’s jurisdiction.
