WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Rob Bishop (R-Utah), Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) and U.S. Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Va.) sent a letter to National Park Service (NPS) Deputy Director Daniel Smith requesting clarification on NPS’s policies for cooperative agreements and urging transparency in the cooperative agreement negotiation process between the NPS and the Friends of Claude Moore Colonial Farm (FCMCF) in McLean, Virginia. This action will help keep the farm open and operating, which receives no significant government funding and benefits American families.
“Claude Moore Colonial Farm is a privately funded and managed national park site that operates a living history museum portraying family life on a small, low income colonial farm in the pre-Revolutionary War era…
“Given this unique foundation and the nearly four decades of successful operations at Claude Moore Colonial Farm under the current agreement, we seek clarification on the suitability and necessity of applying all uniform standards found in modern NPS cooperative agreements on FCMCF."
