Bishop on GAO Report: Democrats Must Wake Up to U.S. Mineral Dependency Threat

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Ranking Member Rob Bishop (R-Utah) released the following statement on the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) released detailing trends in U.S. reliance on imports for critical minerals.

“If China and Democrats have their way, America will remain vulnerable and dependent on others to meet core economic needs.Unquestionably, it is past time to invest in exploration and development of critical minerals here at home, where we have the best environmental and labor standards in the world. As this report reiterates, our dependency isn’t getting better. If House Democrats would recognize this threat, Congress could fix our broken regulatory system and unleash American leadership in mineral development."
