President Joe Biden announced his intention to nominate Bijan Sabet as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Czech Republic. On August 3, 2022, the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee received the nomination.
Bijan Sabet is the co-founder and General Partner of Spark Capital, a venture capital firm seeking out exceptional founders and their design products. It manages more than six billion dollars across venture and ventures growth funds. Throughout his career, Sabet has focused on helping technology entrepreneurs reach their potential and build critical global companies.
Before co-founding Spark Capital in 2005, he worked as a senior executive in numerous technology startup companies in Silicon Valley, California, and Massachusetts. In his role at Spark Capital, Sabet has led investments and served on the board of directors of early-stage startup companies that have transformed into global leaders.
He led Spark’s investment in Twitter in 2007 when there were just ten employees at the San Francisco-based startup. His firm led early-stage investments in other iconic companies, including Wayfair, Cruise Automotive, Oculus, Slack, Tumblr, Warby Parker, Discord, Stack Overflow, and others that have led to the creation of tens of thousands of new jobs. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Boston College, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science degree.
