Mike Gallagher, R-Wis., and the chairman of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, has strongly criticized the reported attacks on American interests by the CCP. This criticism follows the recent revelation of a secretive lab owned by Chinese entities in California, which is alleged to be engaged in the development of biological weapons.
"What we are seeing across the board from the Chinese Communist Party is an all out assault on American sovereignty," Gallagher said in an Aug. 8 post on X, formerly Twitter.
The illegal Chinese-owned facility, located in Reedley, Calif., was recently exposed and shut down earlier this year. Officials have expressed concerns that this facility might have potentially jeopardized the safety of Americans due to suspected malicious intentions by the CCP, however, "health security experts" remain uncertain about any malevolent motives and hold the opinion that it was not a facility used for developing bioweapons, according to Daily Mail.
Within this facility, numerous reports have surfaced regarding the discovery of hundreds of mice — some alive, some deceased — carrying infectious diseases. Among the diseases found within the lab are HIV, hepatitis, COVID and more. The lab was also found to contain medical waste, including human blood, medical equipment, as well as refrigerators, and more, according to Fox News.
"Obviously, we've seen the establishment of illegal police stations in the heart of Manhattan, we've seen troubling land purchases on behalf of Chinese entities near American military bases, we've seen continued cyber warfare against our infrastructure domestically," Gallagher in a Newsmax interview linked to his X post. "So, across the board, the CCP is testing us."
"An illegal bio lab with ties to China on American soil is troubling," Rep. Michelle Steel, R-Calif., said in an X post. "We know the CCP will stop at nothing to infiltrate America. Authorities must get to the bottom of this. "
"Allowing a Chinese company to operate a bio lab on our own shores after the pandemic isn’t just stupid, it’s reckless to the extreme," Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., said in his own post on X. "I am grateful authorities put a stop to this."
