Founder of Polaris National Security: 'It’s time to bring back a policy of reciprocity' to prevent data mining by China

Morgan Ortagus, founder of Polaris National Security and former State Department spokesperson, has suggested that the U.S. should develop a policy of "reciprocity" towards China. She highlighted that China has banned the version of TikTok used by Americans. This statement was made in a post on March 29.

"China doesn't dare allow their citizens to access the same version of TikTok that has become a news source for young Americans. Why? Because it's weaponized," said Ortagus, Founder of Polaris, Former State Department Spokesperson, according to X. "It's time to bring back a policy of reciprocity & keep Xi's data mining algorithms off American soil."

Ortagus further stated on X that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has "weaponized" TikTok in the United States.

During an appearance on Fox Business, Ortagus said that the CCP uses TikTok for "disinformation purposes". She also accused the app of spreading "antisemitism" and "untruths about the state of Israel and the Jewish people." Furthermore, she noted that young Americans are using TikTok as their daily news source and labeled the app a "national security risk."

The America First Policy Institute provides some context to Ortagus's statements. According to them, the policy of reciprocity implies that "the CCP and anyone tied to it should have no access to any institution or opportunity in America beyond that which we have access to in China."

Ortagus is not only the founder of Polaris National Security but also hosts "The Morgan Ortagus Show" on SiriusXM. Her non-profit organization aims for the U.S. to "push back on Putin’s Russia and Communist China," as per its website description. Prior to these roles, she served as a spokesperson for the State Department.
