House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole has issued a statement regarding recent U.S. airstrikes on Iran's nuclear sites. The strikes, according to Cole, aim to prevent the development of a lethal weapon and avert war.
"Tonight’s focused actions are about preventing a lethal weapon and war," Cole stated. He emphasized that President Trump had given ample opportunity for negotiation before deciding to take military action. "President Trump has ended years of appeasement that has emboldened the Iranian regime and its evil mullahs, the leading state sponsor of terror."
Cole described the airstrikes as an essential measure to neutralize what he called a direct nuclear threat to both regional and global peace and stability. He highlighted that the targeted nature of the strikes was intended to minimize risks to America, its troops, and Israel.
"The United States will always stand resolutely against terrorism and aggression," Cole declared. He criticized the Iranian regime as being "disingenuous and unreliable," stating that action was necessary due to their behavior.
"In face of threats, you will be met with strength – because that is how peace is kept," Cole asserted, expressing confidence in U.S. capabilities as a force for freedom and stability. He concluded by extending blessings to U.S. troops involved in the mission.
