NAHB announces 2025 Best in American Living Awards recipients at builders’ show

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has announced the winners of the 2025 Best in American Living Awards (BALA) at the NAHB International Builders’ Show in Orlando. The awards, sponsored by Smeg, recognize achievements in residential design, multifamily housing, offsite construction and remodeling.

This year’s competition saw more than 200 gold and silver winners from across the United States and internationally. Categories included home design, community development, multifamily projects and remodeling.

“The Best in American Living Awards continue to pave the way for the residential design and home building industries,” said Jim Sattler, President of Jim Sattler Custom Homes in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and NAHB’s 2025 BALA Subcommittee Chair. “This year’s winners demonstrated creativity, innovation and thoughtfulness in execution, which helped their projects standout to the judges.”

Winners include:

- Home of the Year: El Milagro Residence in Rancho Santa Fe, California. The project team featured Landry Design Group Inc., Sweig General Contracting Inc., interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard and photographer Manolo Langis Photography.

- Best Single-Family Community: Summerlin West in Las Vegas. Contributors included Land Design Inc., Howard Hughes as builder and developer, DTJ Design as land planner and Robb Williamson as photographer.

- Best Multifamily Condominium (5 stories or less): Ocean 17 in Carlsbad, California. The project was led by BSB Design with R&R Construction as builder and developer.

- Best Multifamily Condominium (6 stories or more): The Emory in Nashville, Tennessee. StreetLights Creative Studio LLC served as architect/designer and marketing firm; Clark Construction Group LLC was builder and general contractor; Southwest Value Partners was developer.

- Best in Log Homes Design: Teton View Residence in Wilson, Wyoming by PrecisionCraft Log and Timber Homes.

- Best Remodel of an Entire Home (Budget Over $750,000): Fanfol Remodel in Paradise Valley, Arizona by BedBrock Remodel.

- Remodeler of the Year: Robert Wood of Mountainwood Homes.

- Best Multifamily Development Firm: NRP Development Firm based in Cleveland.

- Best Property Management Firm: Mill Creek Residential from Boca Raton, Florida.
