The Department of Defense (DoD) today announced additional security assistance to address Ukraine's critical security and defense needs. This marks the Biden Administration's sixty-fifth tranche of equipment provided from DoD inventories for Ukraine since August 2021. The Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) package, valued at approximately $250 million, aims to bolster Ukraine's capabilities with air defense missiles, munitions for rocket systems and artillery, armored vehicles, and anti-tank weapons.

On September 6, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Ms. Jana Nelson, co-chaired the 2024 U.S.–Peru Defense Bilateral Working Group (DBWG) with her Peruvian Co-Chair, Minister of Defense Walter Astudillo. The meeting took place at the Peruvian Army Headquarters in Lima, Peru. This was the first U.S.–Peru DBWG held since 2011.
